I hope you don't mind, I shared a link, with my fb friends, to this post. Here's the comment I put with it:

I appreciate his concluding response to changes in the music industry. As consumers of music (as opposed to artists) we need to respond as well. If you appreciate someone's artistic work, let them know by word & deed. Throw something in the tip jar, make a contribution on spotify, bandcamp, etc; and by all means TELL them you love it!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and keep making music!

Bro. I hear you. But, let me encourage you, what makes your songs unique and different, and specifically not what the music business wants, is what is golden. Not saying this to encourage you to post, only to encourage you to create, and to attempt to write 1 again.

Perhaps this creative exercise will be what you need to press on. Not so long ago you wrote, "i'm wide awake, it's morning...better days are coming".

Here's to better days.

I was just skimming through your website and came across this. I do something like this, except on my birthday every few years, I'll write a letter to my future self. When I turned 13, I wrote a letter to my 16 year old self to open on my 16th birthday. I did the same thing when I turned 16 (except I wrote a letter to my 18 year old self). It's a great way to look back and remind yourself of where you've been, but I also love the idea of writing a letter to your past self. Very cool.

P.S. I love your music :)

I am glad to see such self-awareness. It's recognizing habit in relation to our history that helps us understand where said habits come from and when they were established. "Start focusing outside of myself" can be a lesson that America as a whole could stand to learn. Thanks for the blog entry. Good stuff brotha.

Yeah, I don't think it's bad to be competitive. I've tried to be more competitive in the sense that, when I write music, I want all the artists that I respect to say "yeah, that's really cool." I want to push my friends who create, and I want my friends who create to push me. So push me Taylor!
